Bridges
Tooth loss can have a dramatic impact on your overall dental health, as well as how you feel about the way you look. If you have one or more missing teeth, the remaining teeth may shift out of their position, creating problems with your bite, leading to additional tooth loss and contributing to decay and gum disease.
In the case of tooth loss, we may recommend the use of a dental bridge. This process involves replacing one or more teeth by anchoring crowns to the remaining teeth on either side of the gap
The Procedure
First, your dentist will prepare and shape the teeth on either side of the gap for crowns. Impressions are also taken.
Next, a temporary bridge is created to place into the space until a permanent bridge is ready.
At the next visit, typically seven days later, this bridge is removed. At this time, the permanent bridge is placed in the gap, adjusted for comfort and aesthetics and cemented in place.
